Per tornare al fronte politico, il leader di Azione, Carlo Calenda su Twitter lancia una serie di post sul tema della conferenza di Renzi in Arabia Saudita.«Solo qualche giorno fa avevo ricordato con orgoglio il coraggio di Renzi a San Pietroburgo nel ricordare a Putin i diritti delle minoranze e i valori democratici. Ritengo che per quanto si possa essere su fronti opposti non si debbano mai disconoscere i meriti oggettivi. E tuttavia con la stessa nettezza voglio dire che ritengo inaccettabile che un senatore della repubblica pagato dai cittadini vada in giro per il mondo a fare il testimonial di regimi autocratici dietro pagamento di lauti compensi».

Si tratta di una cosa semplicemente immorale e pericolosa» scrive ancora il leader di Iv che conclude: «con che credibilità Renzi potrebbe in futuro ricoprire il ruolo di Ministro degli Esteri o sedere nel Copasir o influenzare la politica estera dopo aver preso soldi personalmente dall’Arabia Saudita?»
