Roger Federer è il secondo finalista degli Australian Open, primo Slam stagionale in corso sul cemento del Melbourne Park. Il campione svizzero, numero 2 della classifica mondiale e campione in carica, ha beneficiato in semifinale, sul 6-1 5-2 in proprio favore, del ritiro del sudcoreano Hyeon Chung, vincitore della prima edizione delle Next Gen Atp Finals lo scorso novembre a Milano e grande rivelazione del torneo.

Per il titolo «King Roger» affronterà il croato Marin Cilic, sesta forza del seeding, che ieri si è imposto sul britannico Kyle Edmund con il punteggio di 6-2 7-6(4) 6-2.
